Thanks to this forum I recently became aware of Net ejuice. As I mainly vape tobacco flavours, I tracked down the only maker of net juice (that I know of) in South Africa and bought a bottle of Rhodesian tobacco. I love it. Though a bit high in nic its everything I've been looking for in a flavour. However...it really does take its toll on both the wick and coils! After 1 day they're both a mess! Is this anyone else's experience? It's a 70%vg 30%pg mix. Would a 50/50 maybe work better? Any suggestions in terms of type of cotton and builds/wire used. I'm curemtly using kayfun 5's on my epipes and will be using a v3 mini on my forthcoming Huntsman. Thanks in advance. Ryan

Well Ryan, yup and yup. NET e-juice really does take its toll on both coils and cotton. I use NET's almost exclusively. The flavor is unsurpassed. You could try a few things.
1. Try 50/50 the heaviness of the VG might be adding to the gunk on your coil.
2. If it is very strong in flavor, you could try to cut it with unflavored juice. The more extract used in making juice the more gunking you will have.
3. You could try to make your own if you have access to the raw materials.
I tend to change my cotton after about 3 tanks, I use a kayfun V5 and V3. I also dry burn my coil when I change wicks. Hopefully this will help.

NETs are about all I use as well (50/50, 6mg), and the gunking is part of the game. As Fedgunner would say - "it's the price of admission" Two (2) things are at play here - Primarily, tobacco contains natural sugars, and at least some of these transfer through the maceration process, which then caramelize on the coil, creating the gunking. Secondarily, but just as important, is the maker's filtration after the maceration - the less filtration, the more particulates make it through and into the juice, also contributing to the gunking factor. I typically use two (2) atomizers on a daily basis, and each of these tend to get a coil burn and new wick each day/ day-and-a-half, depending on how much the particular atty is used, and the particular juice run through it. For me, even though re-wicking can seem to be a bit laborious at times, it still comes out better than the scraping, picking, cleaning, tapping, packing, tamping, and lighting (& re-lighting) of a traditional tobacco pipe. - There are also some tobacco synthetics that are being looked at, and some apparently showing promise. pyro and Peter may have more to share on those; I've just received a bottle to try, and haven't yet gotten into it. Thank you very much for your replies gentleman. You have explained and described my experience with net ejuice perfectly. As it's my first experience with net and this particular mixologist, I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. I am just coming to the end of my third tank now and it's begging for a rewicking. But as stated above it's well worth the price of admission as I'm loving the juice and need to look no further. Now just to wait a few weeks longer till I can vape it (I think in a kayfun 3 mini) on my new huntsman. Couldn't be more excited! Chat again soon.

Hey, I didn't know about NETs, but it sounds like I may be using it, based on the description by my local guy about how his juice is made. Any suggestions for good vendors of NET juice for piping? I love the Captain Black from my local vendor.

I love the Captain Black from my local vendor. If you were using NETs, you'd know - if by no other means, the frequency your coil/ wick needs changing. You'll also likely be pleased to know that NETs can be derived from cigar tobacco as well. Once your pipe arrives, you'll have the pleasure of the piping experience, coupled with the comfort of tobaccos with which you may have a history. Be forewarned: Once you get into NETs and get your process down pat for setting up your atomizer, there will not be much at all available in the commercial synthetic juice selections that will ever make you happy. This is really enjoying tobacco as close to it's truest form as possible, and is THE perfect match to your PipeSmith pipe. /K

My coils do get fouled very quickly. If I'm using one RTA all the time, I typically change my wick every day and clean my coil at the same time by dry firing it red hot and then dipping it in distilled water. Three or four times doing that and the coil is shiny and good as new.
Thanks for the link, Peter. Time to start the search for a NET made from ligero leaves grown in the Esteli Valley of Nicaragua!

What ratio of PG/VG do you guys use? I was surprised to see that the default is 70PG/30VG. My normal juice is 100% VG.

Sometimes I'll run a 70/30, and I tend to like the 70/30 a bit, but the 50/50 feeds well for me pretty much year-round - even outdoors during Colorado Winter and at varying elevations.
This is one of the aspects that are more subjective to the user, with the latitude to be adjusted based on the user's personal tastes, vaping habits, environmental factors, and desired results.

Thanks. I ordered some 50/50 and on 30/70, since I'm more used to high VG.

Thanks. I ordered some 50/50 and on 30/70, since I'm more used to high VG. That was my reference as well; 70VG/ 30PG. I personally don't really care for anything lighter than 50VG /K
