My PipeSmith Huntsman arrived today! Huzzah! Ken very kindly set up an adapter for my stem (I am using a Nautilus X tank, which has a standard 510 thread but a non-standard drip tip (boooo, Aspire... ). The first pics show the stem installed as delivered, the later ones show it after I shaped it. Thanks, Ken! Very nice job! Attachments:

I often can't resist tinkering, so..... Looking at my new pipe, I decided I wanted a bit darker color, and a bit more of a gloss finish (not piano gloss, just a bit more shine). So I sanded down the pipe body with 400, then 600, and finally 800 grit paper. I sealed the wood so it would take stain evenly, then used a dark walnut stain, left on for about 10 minutes, then wiped off. I've put on six coats of clear gloss lacquer, rubbed down with 0000 steel wool after each coat. The final rub was late today, and the pipe has a finish somewhere between a gloss and a semi-gloss finish. Nice and even, and a bit darker than the original. Now it will be left to cure for maybe a week, and then it will get a protective coat of carnuba wax and a good buffing. Before and after pics below: Before: After: And:

I really like that pipe. That cross hatching on the side is nice.

And this is it...the very one that made it onto the front page! Very proud and so grateful to Ken. Now just the wait for it to arrive in South Africa. Will post more pics when it's in hand. Thanks again Ken - I think it's magnificent.
